More! Fashion magazine work experience April 2010

Day One I arrived at the office in Covent Garden London, nicely dressed, but still unsure of my outfit that took me hours to prepare the night before, I was met at the lifts by one of the fashion Interns at More! After a short discussion, I came to realise she was there along with another intern on a three month placement. They were to find out, out of the two of them; only one successful candidate would be kept on for a permanent role in 1 weeks time, how nerve wrecking I thought.

I was also introduced to the other work experience girl who was studying at London retail Academy and we were to work together for the next two weeks of our work experience. We were taken up swiftly to the More! Office. I noticed how busy the office was and almost 60 members of staff occupied seats at their personal Mac computers on rows of long desks. Issues of More! Were stacked on desks and issue covers were posted on the surrounding walls. I was then taken to the returns corner in the office, and the rest of the day resumed returning products/samples back to the PR of brands, and finding correct contacts using the Fashion Monitor directory , which all magazine companies and brands alike use.

I also had to collect deliveries from the post room three times a day. And give them to allocated stylists or unpack and hang the clothes in their styling cupboards in order of trends or product range. We had an hour for lunch everyday, and when on duty were expected to run any errands, if any of the fashion staff needed anything. For example; breakfast for staff or to take samples to any of the press offices around central London. Outside the office duties, I also attended a fashion shoot at Holborn Studios and assisted in helping the model with changes and making sure I helped the stylist any way possible. I also had to organise the clothes ready for the shoot and packed up at the end. The experience was exciting as there was a makeup artist and photographer and a professional model, alongside the More! Stylist, the studio was nice and music in the background created a nice vibe for the people working on the shoot.

My Paris City Guide/ Dita Von Teese > the snow/the fashion/the iconic features (February 2010)

Enjoy the photographs of Le Paree at this time, from my visit in a very cold February. Taking the Eurostar to Paris,had a suprise in store >DITA VON TEESE!! when my friend grabbed my hand and asked whether the lady struggling with her Louis Vuitton suitcases and sky high heels, looked like a celebrity of the burlesque kind, I did engage my eyes directly to her!! and to my surprise it was, that dark haired, pale skinned, red lipped vision, with her Prada shade cover -up, there was no denying the facts, it was Dita herself. Within seconds, I took myself and two friends at hand to the train staff and asked if we could swiftly glide into first class, just to say hello to this celebrity we had, oh- so spotted at St.Pancreas. To our delight he let us on for a few minutes and we got to handshake and meet the lady herself. She spoke in the sweetest voice and was perfectly groomed, just how you would imagine.
